How do you get an effect of aging on painted wood?
I want to make wooden signs that look old (pub signs), but I do not know what to use to get that aged look.
Crackling through the sale in craft stores .. But, to calm the colors after the work art is done, apply a wash of burnt umber (brown) diluted to the consistency of the ink. Brush, clean, the color goes into the cracks and hinders the bright new art. Paint your sign, giving a boost, with strings, CAAR towed behind a sand road (this does not take long or much to go, but it is very effective), or sand in some of paints by hand and then wash it with brown or black.
