Is anyone else sick of the 'rule'?
Now, if you do not want to smoke, drink or use drugs, I do not care. But why assign any label for it? I am sick and tired of all these oh-so-fashionable edge children who have to assign a label of 'cool' what they are doing in order to justify it. And this may be just a generalization, but why should you be so damn elitist about it? I mean, Jesus. Never had a Big Mac, which obviously is not good for people. Give me a fucking medal! That does not mean I'm better or worse than people who do choose to eat Big Macs. Personally, not drinking or smoking cigarettes. But I do not assign any fashion label for me and I definitely do not have justification to believe that I am better than people who smoke and drink. I am aware of the history of straight edge. I'm talking about the kids see today i walk. Those who wear their uniforms with pride and child scene edge before breaking age 18.
We assign labels to everything. Gender, race, religion, orientation. There is a special label gets my panties in a bunch. If someone wants to self-identify with something, so what? I do it all the time. I am a student. I work in the construction of a whole. Our society full of social indicators, this is just another of them. Now, all people who identify in some way, does not mean that everyone acts like that.
